A son’s interpretive story to honor his family who endured a tragic past that included internment camps, forced relocation and abandonment of their homeland where their society of family and friends lived the life they loved for 150 years in peace. The title “Tulip Fields of Batavia” represents the Dutch people who colonized the beautiful islands of the Dutch East Indies and the former name of the capital of Indonesia before 1942 and the invasion by the Japanese Imperial Army.
