Job Description:
Join the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) as a Correctional Officer and become an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining safety and security within the correctional facilities across Virginia. Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety and security of inmates, staff, and visitors within the correctional facility.
Supervise and manage inmate activities, including monitoring daily routines and behavior.
Conduct security checks and searches to prevent the introduction of contraband.
Enforce rules and regulations while maintaining a respectful and fair approach.
Assist in crisis management, emergency response, and conflict resolution.
Report and document incidents and activities as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education).
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
Minimum age of 18.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical fitness and the ability to undergo training in self-defense and firearms handling.
